RIP Eugen Berezovskiu. My friend, volunteer from Kharkiv.
We met in the spring of 2023 in a volunteer chat.
Someone asked if there was anyone there who worked with children.
We called, talked for an hour and a half, discovered we had so much in common — and a week later, the first packages were on their way. Because even during war, children must play.
Along with various medical supplies, we sent board games for the club, arts and crafts materials, educational toys, and small gifts — everything was needed.
Eugen traveled with a team of volunteers all over the Kharkiv region and beyond, bringing joy to children.
A cheerful Pikachu, he always gathered a circle of kids of all ages around him.
At his request, we managed to find rare board games right away — even ones no longer produced here.
“Julya, please send more story cubes and Spot-Its — I give them to everyone so the kids can play at home. And beads, lots of beads, my mom and I make so many things with them during activities.”
And now he’s gone — a man who was a celebration, the center of every gathering.
His heart stopped. So young, just a bit older than our own kids — only 34.
He left behind his parents, Elena and Sergey, wife, daughter Alisa, and friends.
And I’m sending another package.
Because even during war, children must play.

From Ben Asack:
Had a pickup truck brought in from Austria, fixed up, and donated to a Ukrainian unit. The Commander sent me a message this morning “How do you like the new plates?” Ukraine - wild and wonderful.
